Cllr Anne Prior, chairman of the Parish Council, writes:
Remember that although you can cut back the branches of trees that overhang your garden, you must not do this without the permission of the owner of the tree. You must speak to the owner first.
There are many trees in the village that are subject to Tree Preservation Orders (TPOs) and it is an offence, punishable with a significant fine, to damage these. Always check before cutting back.
There is information about how to find out who owns a tree, whether a tree has a TPO on it, and about trees in conservation areas, on the Trees and Landscape section of the Stratford District Council website, or contact the Parish Office.
