 WSCC

The Council has agreed to sign a contract for £685,000 for work to begin on the current building and the new annexe. This work should start in the New Year. The money will provide the two storey annexe and a completely refurbished ground floor. As we raise more money, the work will continue into the other areas including the MUGA (Multi Use Games Area).

The Council is also working with its solicitor to form the Charity that will manage the facility.

If you have any ideas for fund raising do let us know.

If you haven’t bought your brick(s), please do to support this much needed facility for the village.

Development Plan

A draft development plan for the areas that the council will lease from Walton Estate was discussed at the meeting in November. The three areas are the Village Hall and the adjacent car park, the remainder of Dog Close and the field on the Newbold Road that surrounds the Nursery and Primary School. There is still much work to be done regarding these and we hope that you will become involved as well. There will be a display of the initial suggestions at the switch on of the Christmas Lights and further consultation in the New Year. Our initial ideas are:

Dog Close to become an area for ease and enjoyment. We are considering cutting the grass on a few occasions and then cutting paths through it for walking along with paths through the coppice. Work will need to be done on the coppice as it has become very overgrown. We would hope to provide some seating in the area as well.

Village Hall and car park: take down the old youth hut and resurface and mark out a car park. We will be meeting with the management committee of the village hall to discuss the future management of the village hall itself.

Newbold Road: we hope to provide parking for parents delivering and collecting children from the school to relieve the current congestion on Mountford Close and use the rest for much needed new pitches for sport.

All these are just the start. If you have any ideas do contact us. This is an opportunity to get things right and provide much needed provision for the village.

Wellesbourne School

Fundraising Calendar

The Parish Council has been pleased to support the production of the calendar to raise funds for the school. We hope that the village will support it by buying a copy.

Graffiti

I hope you will have noticed that the graffiti around the village is disappearing. The Council has committed £600 and Stratford District Council has given us a further £300 towards the work. We are using the services of the Community Payback team (Probation Service) to do the work. Whilst the work has been progressing some further graffiti has appeared. If you know who is doing this, and someone must, please let us know.

Finally, on behalf of the Parish Council, I would like to wish you all:

A Very Happy Christmas
